Lacemaking Bobbins And Tools HomeThis is a featured page

Lacemaking Bobbins Lacemaking Bobbins are highly specialised tools which are absolutely fit for their purpose. Each type of Lace has it's own style of Bobbin which has evolved over generations to ensure that it assists the Lacemaker to make the best lace possible.

There are few Bobbin Makers who still turn Bobbins by hand, though these are much preferred by lacemakers. They are things of beauty and much loved by their owners, all of whom seem to have slightly different requirements in bobbins. I learned to make Bobbins a few years ago, and was fortunate enough to be trained by Stuart Johnson and David Springett, two of the finest modern Bobbin Makers.

This Wiki is for anyone who is interested in Lacemaking Bobbins and Tools, how they are made, the different styles, types of wood - anything related to the topic.
